New Delhi: Organising an international cricket match in India requires a lot of preparation and most state cricket associations try to adhere to the BCCI instructions to organise the event smoothly in order to be in their good books. However, the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) seems to be a repeat offender when it comes failing to get their house in order.

A day before the second one-day international match between India and New Zealand, the press box at the Ferozshah Kotla looked in disarray. The working area tables had piles of dust and pigeon poop on them, the chairs were not in order, the whole enclosure which includes the lounge area had foul smell coming out from the air conditioner ducts.

Even the toilets which are also used by the television commentators and corporate box spectators to the right of the press box weren't clean. The dinner area had rectangular tables while the order was for the circular ones. "It is embarrassing that a day before such a big event there are so many things left to be done," claimed a senior DDCA staff member who works closely with retired justice Mukul Mudgal.

Mudgal in fact is the man who, during the last international game here between India and South Africa, made sure that things went on smoothly. "We were promised that we will get everything in order by October 16 and even four days later, nothing is done. This is the media area... you can imagine the state of other enclosures in the ground because many in DDCA don't want us to work," added the official.
