England has secured 2nd spot in the latest ICC rankings for Test teams.

India is in third spot behind England in the ICC Test team rankings after the latter managed to salvage a draw in the final Test against New Zealand in Auckland on Tuesday, on the April 1 cut-off date.

South Africa, with 128 points, had already sealed their position as the No.1 ranked Test side, meaning they not only retained the Test mace but are also assured of $450,000.

England will receive $350,000 for finishing second, India will get $250,000 for third and Australia will bag $150,000 for being fourth.

India not only needed to win the Delhi Test but also had to hope for a New Zealand victory in the Auckland Test. If New Zealand won the series 1-0, India would have finished second in the rankings table.

India, for their 4-0 whitewash of the Australians, gained seven ranking points to finish the season on 112. While England lost four points after all their three Tests against the Kiwis ended in a draw.

The following is the ICC Test Championship table (as on March 26 after India-Australia and England-New Zealand series):

1. South Africa 128 (ratings points)
2. England 114
3. India 112
4. Australia 110
5. Pakistan 104
6. Sri Lanka 92
7. West Indies 92
8. New Zealand 83
9. Bangladesh 1

Zimbabwe are currently unranked as they have played insufficient matches. They have 263 points and a rating of 38.
