India's men and women's teams both won the Kabaddi World Cup titles at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Saturday.
While the Indian eves crushed Malaysia 72-12 to win the coveted title, the Indian men retained their title for the third consecutive year, dominating arch-rivals Pakistan 58-21 in front of a vociferous crowd.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal handed over prize money cheque of Rs 51 lakh to the winning Indian eves while the runners-up took home Rs 31 lakh. The third-place winning women’s team Denmark won Rs 21 lakh for their effort.

The prize money for the men was much higher. The Indian men took home a cool Rs 2 crore while Pakistan received a cheque of Rs 1 crore. Third-place winners Canada were richer by Rs 75 lakhs.
