India, Pakistan should form player bodies: May
“It is not a sudden decision. The FICA board members were aware about the thoughts running through my mind,” said May yesterday. May believes that players from India and Pakistan should form associations to protect their interests.
“The players should have a strong zeal to form associations (in these countries). All cricket-playing nations should have associations,” he said.
“The players’ associations in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are not being recognised by their respective boards as of now, but their interests are being taken care by FICA,” he added.
May has been a vocal critic of match fixing and had accused Pakistan’s captain Salim Malik of unfair practices way back in the 1994-95 season.
