Indian-American actor-designer Waris Ahluwalia was barred from boarding a flight from Mexico City to New York because he was wearing a turban. Waris features in Deepa Mehta's film, 'Beeba Boys', which stars Randeep Hooda.
Waris stated his plight on Instagram by posting a picture of himself holding up his boarding pass and another in front of the customer service desk. He was reportedly asked to remove his turban.
On Monday, Ahluwalia remained in Mexico City awaiting a flight to New York with another carrier.
He wants the airline to apologise and train its employees about turban-wearing travellers.
