Indian Jawan and wife killed, daughters hurt in Pakistan shelling in Poonch

An Army jawan and his wife were killed and their three daughters injured when the Pakistani Army targeted forward posts and hamlets along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said on Saturday.

"Sepoy Mohmmad Shaukat of the Territorial Army, who was on leave, and his wife Safia Bi were killed when a mortar shell fired by Pak Army exploded near their home in Karmara," a police officer said. Their daughters, Zaida Kouser, 6, Robina Kouser, 12, and Nazia Bi were injured.

The Indian Indian High Commission lodged a strong protest with Pakistan on Saturday over death of civilians in ceasefire violations by the Pak troops.

Clashes mark Wani death anniversary
Clashes took place at over a dozen places between protesters and security forces on Saturday on the first death anniver­s­a­ry of Hizbul Mujahedin militant Burhan Wani, but no major incid­ent of violence was reported from the Valley that was under total security clampdown with internet services blocked.
