Kim Clijsters was forced to pull out of her Brisbane International semi-final against Daniela Hantuchova with a hip injury yesterday. Clijsters, the defending Australian Open champion, conceded the match 6-7 (4/7), 3-1. Hantuchova faces Estonia's Kaia Kanepi in the final.
Meanwhile, ATP top seed Andy Murray finally found top gear as he demolished doubles partner Marcos Baghdatis in straight sets in the quarter-finals. Murray won 6-2, 6-2.
