Poor show by Mohd Yousuf & Co in Aus replaces Indian T20 League as the burning topic in Pak cricket

The disappointment of Pakistani cricketers in the Indian Premier League auction is no longer the main issue in Pakistan today thanks to the humiliating performance of the team in Australia. The cricket fans' ire is focussed on Mohammad Yousuf and Co now.

The cricket fraternity is very disappointed at the series of humiliating defeats suffered byu00a0Yousuf's team against Australia as they lost all their three Tests and four matches in the one-day series played so far. A demonstration was held against the Pakistan Cricket Board here on Friday where protestors ridiculed PCB chief Ejaz Butt and captain Yousuf. They raised slogans against the PCB top brass and the Pakistan team management while burning the effigies of Board officials and the Pakistan captain.

U-19 team setback

The spirit of cricket fans was further dented when the Pakistan colts lost the under-19 World Cup final to Australia in New Zealand on Saturday.

If the senior team loses Sunday's fifth ODI, it will be only the second time in Pakistan's cricket history that the team has been blanked 5-0 in an ODI series. West Indies had routed Pakistan 5-0 in 1988.

A revamp of the PCB is expected at the top level by next week as the government holds the current regime responsible for mismanagement of the IPL issue, losing the hosting rights of the 2011 World Cup and the poor performance of the team. Heads could roll in the Pakistan team as well and the coaching staff is under scrutiny too.

End for Yousuf?

PCB chairman Butt told a news agency that he wants a younger player to lead the national side as he is not happy with the performance of current skipper Yousuf.

"Ideally, a younger player could have been chosen to lead Pakistan, but Australia is not the place to experiment. So, the job went to the senior-most player -- Yousuf," Butt said.
