Shakespeare famously wrote — What’s in a name? After Irrfan Khan reportedly dropped his surname recently, the irony of the situation is that he just can’t do without it! Apparently, his character in his next film is called Fanney Khan.
Says producer Anjum Rizvi, “Irrfan plays a very entertaining character in the film. He plays a light-hearted fictitious character Fanney Khan who is a member of a band that goes for weddings. He keeps on checking and wooing girls attending the wedding.”
A source close to the actor says, “He has dropped Khan from his name, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t play Khan onscreen.” Our source adds, “The actor had stopped using his surname a while ago but recently he decided to remove Khan from his name in film credits as well.”
According to sources, Irrfan dropped his surname, as he believes one does not have to be a Khan to be successful in Bollywood.
