Is AI headed for another strike?

Around 44,000 disgruntled Air India employees, who have allegedly not been paid their salaries for the past three months, may go on another strike soon, protesting against the debt-ridden Maharaja's "mismanagement".
According to sources from the debt-ridden airline, the current situation of inordinate delays in the payment of salaries has created resentment among the employees and can lead to another big strike in a week or two.

"This is the worst situation we have faced in our decades-long careers with Air India. We have not been getting ouru00a0 salaries from the past three months. Since the management seems indifferent towards our problems, we are left with no option but go on another strike," said a senior pilot from the airline.

"And this time, they won't be able to handle the crisis as all the eleven unions are willing and ready to go on strike if the management does not mend its ways," said a senior pilot from one of the pilots' associations.
A senior union leader of a Cabin Crew Union also cautioned that they might take the protest path if the situation does not improve in a week or two.

On June 14, all the eleven Air India employees' unions sent a letter tou00a0 Civil Aviation minister, Vayalar Ravi, seeking an appointmentu00a0 with him to discuss issues plaguing the airline. They also sought his intervention to help restore the past glory of the airline.

"Several Air India pilots have already quit and joined private airlines. If Air India doesn't mend its ways, many more may dump the Maharaja in groups," said an aviation expert, requesting anonymity.

The Other Side
Despite repeated attempts, Air India's CMD, Arvind Jadhav, could not be reached for comment.
