Shiv Sena corporator from Andheri East, Sandhya Yadav, is in a fix. Sandhya, who has been campaigning for Shiv Sena’s MLA candidate Ramesh Latke, has been accused of campaigning for her husband, Sunil Yadav, who is contesting the elections from the same ward on a BJP ticket.

The Shiv Sainiks claim this could land Sandhya in trouble. However, Sandhya’s husband refuted the allegations and claimed somebody from the opposition is maligning the couple’s name.

Sunil told sunday mid-day, "Since I live with my wife, Sandhya, I am in the best position to know whether she is campaigning for me. We are from different parties and support different ideologies — why would she do that? Show me one photograph or video where she is seen campaigning for me.”

Sandhya represents Gundavali gaothan in Andheri West. Her husband is pitted against strong candidates such as the sitting Congress MLA, Suresh Shetty, and Shiv Sena candidate, Latke.

A Shiv Sainik from Gundavali, on the condition on anonymity, said, “Sandhya is not openly supporting her husband or participating in his campaigning process, but she is appealing to voters behind the scenes to vote for her husband. She should be loyal to the party which has given her a chance to become corporator and must campaign for Ramesh Latke.”

Sandhya said, “I don’t want to comment on the election and the campaigning process.”

When asked whether she is campaigning for her husband or her party candidate, Sandhya refused to comment and disconnected the call.
