Wim Raymaekers and Mads Junker scored in the second and 21st minute before Bruno Arias and Gustavo dos Santos found the net in the 79th and 90th minute for the Dynamos at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

Brazilian World Cupper Elano Blumer pulled one back for Chennaiyin in the 69th minute with another brilliant free-kick.

Midfield magic
Dynamos were searching for a win after a goal-less draw in their opening match against Pune City FC and 1-1 stalemate against table leaders Atletico de Kolkata and were deserved winners as they had more possession and more shots on the goal.

Captain Alessandro Del Piero did nothing extraordinary but the Delhi midfield of Bruno, Hans Mulder, Steven Dias and Shylo Malsawmtulanga controlled the middle of the park to give the home side the upper hand.

Chennaiyin came back a better side in the second half after off-colour captain Bojan Djordijic was replaced by Colombian John Mendoza as they had more shots at the Delhi goal but tasted their first defeat after back-to-back wins.

With Saturday's win, Dymanos are now on fourth spot in the table with five points while Chennaiyin remained on third with six points.

Former India international Dias found a place for the first time in the starting line-up in place of injured Morten Skoubo and he made an impact with a perfect assist that led to the home side's second goal.

After the match, Delhi head coach Harm Van Veldhoven said the first goal had made all the difference.

"We had a perfect start with Raymaekers getting the early goal. It's always good to score early. Had we scored early against Pune City FC (in the opening match), we would have won that match like today," he said at the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Chennaiyin head coach Marco Materazzi said that the ISL scheduling was hard on the players but conceded that his side lost to a better side. "The scheduling is hard and the players deserved rest.

But today we lost to a better side. Delhi started better and we were on the backfoot after the first and then the second goal against us," he said.

"But that is football and that is life. We are not the best team of the ISL as of now. But we have to work out what has gone wrong for future matches," he added.
