Indian Super League (ISL) franchise FC Pune City’s marquee player Mohamed Sissoko, who has also featured for the English Premier League (EPL) club Liverpool, feels the ISL will outclass the Chinese League in the coming years.

'Good quality of football’'
“ISL is the next big thing in football. The league is continuously signing big names and the quality of football too is good. I feel it will be better than the Chinese league,” Sissoko, who played for Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua last year, told mid-day yesterday.

Sissoko tipped his former Anfield club to not only emerge triumphant in the upcoming derby against Manchester United on Monday, but also win this year’s EPL title. Liverpool are fourth on the league table with 16 points.

“Liverpool have a squad which is currently well placed to beat any team in the EPL. I think Liverpool will win 2-0 against United,” the 31-year-old Sissoko, who who has also become the ISL’s youngest marquee signing, added.

When asked to compare Liverpool under Klopp with the team when manger Rafa Benitez was boss, under whom Sissoko played, the French born footballer said, “Personality wise, they are different, but both are winners. Both want to win titles and trophies.”

Resurgent Red Devils
Sissoko, who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2005, reckons the Red Devils have emerged as a force under the Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho. “Last year Manchester United struggled, but this year Mourinho has brought in players like Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan who have bolstered the squad to quite an extent,” Sissoko concluded.
