The veteran actor on playing a slew of negative characters

It challenges the craft in me: Rishi Kapoor

In his younger days in Bollywood, he may have been the epitome of the romantic hero, but looks like Rishi Kapoor has been getting a lot of offers lately to play a baddie on screen.

The veteran actor, who also played a villainous character in Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath, Rishi is playing a negative role once again in Subhash Ghai’s next.

The actor feels it was the grey shades in his character of Rauf Lala in Agneepath that he has been flooded with such offers. He says, “I have selected a few and rejected the others. I have three films including Aurangzeb coming up where I am playing the villain. But while I say negative roles, they are merely human characters.”

Rishi also states how he has taken his fair share of playing the baddie in his stride. “I think I have had a little more than my share of playing negative roles but I am enjoying it. It challenges the craft in me. They are principle characters in the films and are very plot-oriented. I am enjoying myself,” he adds.

Speaking about working with Subhash Ghai once again, Rishi says, “After 32 years again I am delighted to be working with him. His villains are larger than life. I wanted to play a typical Subhash Ghai bad man in my own way. It’s just the second day of our shoot and we are still developing the character.”u00a0
