J Dey trial: Scared accused seeks transfer to another jail

J Dey murder accused Arun Dhake has filed an application before the special MCOCA court, asking for a transfer to another jail, alleging threats by co-accused Satish Kaliya. Dhake said he fears he would be killed by him.

Dhake, who is lodged in Arthur Road jail, filed an application in person this week after the hearing.

In his two-page application, Dhake said he was earlier transferred to Thane jail after facing “grave danger” from Kaliya in Arthur Road jail, but since returning to Arthur Road jail, he has started getting threats from the co-accused again.

“The applicant (Dhake) again started getting threats from the co-accused in Arthur Road jail. The applicant is living in constant fear for his life… main accused Satish Kaliya and others are constantly threatening the applicant,” the application states.

“The applicant feels that the co-accused will harm him physically or even kill him. “He has a mother, a wife and a seven-year-old son... if something happens to him, they will be left alone in the world.”

Dhake, through his application, has requested the court to transfer him back to Thane jail.

The court has taken the application and informed his lawyer and special public prosecutor Pradip Gharat. The application will be heard soon.
