Jashnn - Movies Reviews

What's it about: Akash (Adhyayan Suman) harbours dreams of becoming a successful singer someday. His sister (Shahana Goswami) is a rich man's (Humayun Saeed)u00a0 mistress and they both live off his money.

Despite being part of a struggling band, Akash finds it difficult to get his coveted break. Fighting against the odds and struggling to keep his love (Anjana Sukhani) together, Jashnn is about Akash's journey to get in touch with the music within and prove to himself that he's not just another nobody.u00a0

What's hot: Luckily, Jashnn has some terrific music. The Dard-e-Tanhaiye track stands out in the soundtrack and provides the much-needed soul to an otherwise lifeless story.

Adhyayan comes across as earnest and sincere in the scene where he breaks down after facing multiple rejections and also in the fight with a music company owner who refuses to give him a break. Even though it's a step forward for the actor, he needs to work on his body language and expressions especially in tight close ups. Shahana Goswami is natural and exuberant.u00a0

What's not: There are enough inconsistencies in the plot to make you frown. As the story progresses or rather digresses forward, the loopholes become even more apparent and vivid. Akash's inner struggle and the desire to become someone seems forced rather than natural. Does his point of realisation have to come when he fails at an attempted robbery?

If circumstances and situations force him to give up singing and become a bell boy, where does the sudden zest for singing come in the climax? Shahana's impact starts wearing off towards the second half as her character gets predictable and noisy.

Unfortunately, the climax which is supposed to wow you with Adhyayan's vocal acrobatics leave a bad taste with tacky production values that make the stage look worse than a college fest show. Anjana Sukhani doesn't have much to do, other than looking glamorous.u00a0

What's that: Dialogues reach an all- time low when you hear a line like, "ek thandi aurat ke saath sone se accha, ek thandi beer peena hai!".u00a0

What to do: Jashnn lacks the spunk of a Bhatt camp film, and instead takes the usual path and becomes predictable.
