Dreaded criminal Narayanaswamy alias JCB Narayana, who is involved in over 28 criminal cases including attempting to eliminate a police party, was arrested yesterday while trying to extort money from a person on the pretext of settling a land dispute.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, BN Nyame Gowda, rounded up Narayanau00a0-- who went underground after being declared a proclaimed offenderu00a0-- near Parappana Agrahara on Hosur road where the criminal had come with his two aides for talks with the victim.
When the police team confronted him, Narayana open fired on the cops and even tried to attack a policeman with a chopper. But the cops finally overpowered him. "Narayana has been giving police the slip for quite sometime now, but this time he ran out of luck. He once tried to kill a police officer who went to arrest him," said Gowda. According to the police, he has five murder cases, three attempt to murder, 12 dacoity and eight chain snatching cases pending against him.
"Narayana had recently murdered his rival Praveen in the Varthur police station limits," said Gowda.
The police have confiscated a revolver and cartridges,u00a0 and other lethal weapons. The police have also arrested Narayana's aide Daniel, while another member
managed to escape.
