The 52-year-old actor was happy to learn that Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel series, wanted him to land a role in the forthcoming comic book caper.
Van Damme said that he has always been a fan of the franchise and its former president and chairman Stan Lee. "It was my pleasure to meet Mr Stan Lee back in 1994, along with Mr Samuel & Mr Victor Hadida," he wrote on Facebook.
"I read that Chris Hemsworth (Thor) would like me to co-star in 'The Avengers 2' movie! Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again," he added.
The actor also went on to suggest a number of comic book characters he would like to be considered for, both within the Marvel world and from other comic books. "By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel's superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage - the Man of Bronze," he said.
