Hawaii: Formula One star Jenson Button got hitched to lingerie model Jessica Michibata at a lavish ceremony in Maui recently, according to reports in several British newspapers.

The pair, who were in Hawaii for Christmas, confirmed the news yesterday by simultaneously tweeting: “Happy New Year from Mr & Mrs Button!! We’re excited to see in the New year with family and loved ones, we hope you’re too!”

According to British tabloid Daily Mail, after getting married in front of their friends and family, the couple drove off into the sunset in a convertible classic Pontiac GTO draped with ribbons.
After meeting in 2008, the couple’s relationship experienced ups and downs and they split for a short time in 2010 before getting back together.
“He told me he wants to get married — he said he is the marrying type. If Jenson wins the title we will celebrate by him getting down on one knee. He told me I am the one for him. I hope he means it,” Michibata had said back in 2009.
The pair got engaged after Button popped the question on Valentine’s Day 2014 with a ring reported to be worth 250,000 pounds. Their marriage capped a year which started in the worst possible way for the 34-year-old Button off the track after the death of his father, John Button, in January.
Button, who won the World Championship with Brawn in 2009, was recently confirmed as one of McLaren’s drivers for the 2015 season alongside the returning Fernando Alonso.
