Jharkhand has seen nine different governments — none of which could complete its term — in the last 14 years since the formation of the tribal-dominated state in 2000.

The BJP has won 37 seats, while its pre-poll alliance partner, All Jharkhand Students Union, has won five, taking the allies comfortably past the magic halfway mark of 41 in the 81-member assembly.
