Jimmy Sheirgill told IANS: "My aim was that Punjabi cinema should come in the big league. I have an emotional connect with Punjabi film as I am from Punjab. It is my duty to give some good films to the Punjabi audience."
"I want to make issue-based films and I want to leave typical song and dance routines behind. I want stories which are more rooted."
In the past, Jimmy Sheirgill has produced Punjabi films like 'Dharti', 'Taur Mittran Di', 'Saadi Love Story' and 'Rangeelay'.
The actor is also excited about his next Punjabi venture titled 'Shareek'.
"It's on family rivalry. It's an emotional film for me... the most emotionally draining and challenging story. I am looking forward to this film," said the actor, who will soon be seen in Hindi entertainer 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'.
