Rehana, Jundal’s mother, was in Delhi yesterday where she spoke to him over the phone and identified him as her son Syed Zabiuddin Ansari.

“She asked him many questions about family members and the place where they live in Beed to ascertain his identity,” said lawyer MS Khan who will be representing Jundal in court.

Rehana reached Delhi Police’s special cell office on Lodhi Road at around 7 pm along with the lawyer. She spoke to her son on phone for over 15 minutes during which Jundal inquired about her well-being.

Earlier in the day, Khan had sought permission to meet Jundal. The court granted the permission, following which his mother talked to him over the phone at the Special Cell Office, where he is in the police custody. Khan said that Jundal looked calm after talking to his mother.

Rehana said, the charges made against her son should be investigated properly because she believed he could not have been involved in any terror activity.

Khan, who has represented over 125 suspected terrorists in various terror-related cases across the country, on Monday took the court's permission to meet Jundal. He has also represented one accused in Aurangabad arms haul case in the Supreme Court. The court had said in its order that Jundal will be allowed to meet his lawyer every day in police custody for half an hour.
