It was during the tenure of Justice AK Patnaik that the seeds of discontent were sown by Bihar Cricket Association's Aditya Verma which ultimately led to the BCCI coming under intense scrutiny.
Speaking from his Delhi residence, Patnaik said: "I am happy that the Supreme Court has accepted these sweeping changes. I wouldn't like to take any credit, but would like to congratulate my colleagues." Stressing that all doors are closed for the BCCI, he said, "They (BCCI) have no escape route now. At the most, they can file a review petition with the Supreme Court and that's it."

Another legal expert, Rahul Mehra felt BCCI should accept the verdict but was skeptical. "I am very happy with the Supreme Court decision, but knowing the way the BCCI works, I am sure they will find loopholes in the verdict and ask for some more time to implement the verdict."
