He was reportedly dumped by singer-actress Gomez in November last year. They reunited before Christmas and enjoyed a romantic ski trip in Utah, but they split again.

Bieber opened up about the failed romance in an interview in which he admitted that he has been relying on his best pals to keep him smiling through the pain as fans and gossip bloggers continue to speculate about what caused the split, reports contactmusic.com.

He also unveiled a new ballad he has written about the former couple's relationship, titled 'Nothing like us', which features lyrics like - "Nothing can ever, ever replace you/ Nothing can make me feel like you do" and "Gave you everything/ Everything I had to give/ Girl, why would you push me away?".

Discussing the tune, he said: "At the end of the day, there's nothing like us, you know? That's just it. It is what it is. People are going to relate to that."

He is unhappy, but trying to cope up.

"I am not in the happiest place that I have ever been. I am trying to get through what I am going through... I have my really close friends to cheer me up and keep me going," said Bieber.

"There are so many rumours. People say I call Selena every day and she won't pick up the phone or I am chasing her down, and these are all fake stories. I don't go on blogs or anything like that. I hear things. People tell me if something happens on the Internet. It gets back to me, definitely," he added.

Bieber is now looking to the future and trying to remain positive about what lies ahead.

"I don't have any regrets. I live and learn. My mom says, 'You got to learn the hard way, don't you?' That's me. I learn the hard way. But it's about how I pick myself up and be better and stronger," he added.
