'Octopussy' co-star Kabir Bedi recalls the time spent with the 'through gentleman', Roger Moore, in Udaipur

Sir Roger Moore, best known for playing famous secret agent 007, died at the age of 89 in Switzerland yesterday following a battle with cancer. The legendary English actor, who played James Bond seven times, enjoyed an acting career spanning eight decades.

Roger Moore devastated children announced his death and added "the love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone." In accordance to his wishes, he will have a private funeral in Monaco.

He will also be remembered fondly for playing Simon Templar in the TV series, The Saint, in the '60s. Known for his generous charity work, Moore was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1991 and knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2003.
Kabir Bedi, who worked with Moore in Octopussy (1983), told mid-day, "Roger was an amazing human being and a thorough gentleman. We had lot of respect for each other while we were shooting for Octopussy in Udaipur. He was a reserved person, but as we spent time together, our friendship grew. We had our individual suites in the hotel we were staying and every day after shoot, we would spend a lot of time together either by the pool or just in the garden with our families. Roger got the tongue-in-cheek attitude to James Bond which was really unique. I am really honoured that I had the chance of working with him.
