CWG Organising Committee chief takes media on a guided tour of Games Village
It was a day that Suresh Kalmadi would probably have fond memories of. The Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee was at his flamboyant best during the soft launch of the Games Village in Delhi on Thursday.u00a0
Kalmadi very patiently replied to media queries one by one and didn't shy away from adding the phrase "up to the international standards" to describe every feature of the venue.
Kalmadi and Games mascot Shera posed together for pictures. However the OC chief was a little more circumspect about getting clicked with the controversial treadmills, but obliged after some cajoling.
The treadmills had earlier created a huge controversy following allegations that the Organising Committee (OC) had rented each piece for Rs 9.5 lakh.
To be fair the Games Village appeared in top shape with facilities like swimming pools, an international zone, a transport zone, ATM, shopping complex, florists, along with the residential complex and a lot more.u00a0 "We will have all the delegates arriving here from September 23. The entire Village is ready for accommodation and training with all security issues sorted. This is definitely going to be one of the best CWG villages," said a beaming Kalmadi.
