Kannada actor Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi Sunday apologised to the people of Karnataka for their marital tiff which even led to the star's arrest

On Sep 9, Darshan was arrested on a police complaint filed by Vijayalakshmi accused him of assaulting her. The actor was given bail by the Karnataka High Court Friday after his bail application was rejected in two lower courts.

"We are seeking pardon from the people of Karnataka for our actions which led to many unexpected things. It was a bad moment for us and we did many mistakes. But we feel sorry," Darshan, who was released from jail Friday evening, told reporters.

"We will assure you that such things will not recur in the future and our relationship will be further strengthened because of this episode," he added.

But the couple clearly maintained that they did not play any role in the decision taken by the Karnataka Film Producers Association to ban actress Nikitha after she was allegedly held responsible for the marital discord between them.

"I will deny that I had spoken against Nikitha with some producers... which led to the ban of the actress," Vijayalakshmi said.

Vijayalakshmi took all the questions patiently and answered without being vague. "We have committed mistakes and we have certainly made serious introspection over the recent developments."

"I think we will behave with a little more maturity. We have spoken to each other many times during my visit to jail to meet Darshan. I hope our bond will be strengthened and in the future our life would be more cordial," she said.

Vijayalakshmi said it was a fact that she was angry on the day she had filed the complaint and now she has realised the mistake.

Darshan said he would thank his fans and well wishers for backing him. "Only now I realise the extent of love they displayed when I was facing rough times," he said.
