Leave alone the general public, even former Test player and Mumbai stalwart Karsan Ghavri had to face the music post the function yesterday.
He had a heated argument with one of the security personnel for not allowing him to exit from the main gate. Later he had to walk all the way to the back gate.
Ghavri said, “The on-stage activity during the function was still fine. The situation below was nothing but chaotic. Apart from the speeches given by dignitaries on the dais, the function was totally unorganised.
Nobody knew what was happening. As soon as the function got over, there was a stampede-like situation. The MCA was aware of the stature of the function that was for Tendulkar. They could have organised it in a much better manner.
They didn’t allow me to come out from the main gate and I had to walk to the back door. It was a shame that organisers had no clue about handling the seating arrangement. They were even not able to manage the crowd. Apart from activities on the stage, the entire event was haphazard,” he said.
There was no separate enclosure for the media as well. So poor were the arrangements, that some miscreants misbehaved with some lady reporters before a security officer intervened.
