Gambhir limped off with what is understood to be a hamstring injury. "I won't like to speculate on his injury," stand-in captain Dinesh Karthik said yesterday. "He will undergo an assessment tonight and then we will let you know tomorrow."

Does the IPL and the injuries accrued threaten the composition of the T20 World Cup? "Injuries are not planned. Dhoni got injured while playing, as did Gambhir. These things happen. You may even get hit by a fast bowler in the nets so there is really no point thinking of such things. But we still have six-seven weeks to go for the World Cup and things should be all right," said theu00a0 stumper.

Karthik paid tributes to Tendulkar. "I wish you guys could try to set the field when he is batting. It is absolutely impossible to set a field. He will hit you through one side and when you change the field, he will hit you through the other," he said.
