'Crew' writer duo say, 'Viewers may watch the film three times'

The biggest commercial family entertainer of the year, 'Crew', is all set to release in the cinemas on Friday. While the buzz for the film is all-time high, on and off social media, the biggest center of attraction for the film is the ensemble casting of the leading talented actresses, Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon.  Ever since the announcement, the audiences have been waiting to watch this sensational trio on the big screens, and now, taking the excitement to the next level, the writer duo Mehul Suri and Nidhi Mehra have shared their excitement and idea about pulling off this ensemble casting for the film. Sharing the details, the writer duo said, "Crafting a multi-generational ensemble was truly exhilarating for us. The synergy among the actresses was simply breathtaking, making the film a visual feast. Their performances are so intricately woven that viewers may find themselves watching them three times over just to fully appreciate each actress's contribution. It's a testament to the beauty and depth of the storytelling." In this underdog story, three flight attendants, who have not been paid for months as the airline is on the verge of bankruptcy, devise their own means to make money. Director Rajesh A Krishnan tells Mid-day, “Three meek air-hostesses go from hum kya hi kar lenge to maloom hai, hum kya kar sakte hai?” But the director promptly points out that it’s more than a crime film. At a time when there have been multiple instances of airline staff being treated disrespectfully by entitled passengers, he hopes Crew will make viewers rethink their behaviour before they get on their next flight. “They say namaste, wear a smile, and have to be nice to you. That doesn’t mean they should be snapped at and asked, ‘Where is my alcohol?’ I have been surrounded by so many sassy women, and they’ve raised me well. I don’t take basic human dignity for granted. Here is a story of three mature people fighting [the odds] with their brains. These three women are done taking nonsense.” “Nothing convinces harder than good humour. I don’t have it in me to sell a movie as female-centric. I don’t know what that genre is. Everyone wants to know the story, and a story like this is gender-agnostic. To me, Kareena, Tabu and Kriti are no different from Shah Rukh [Khan], Salman [Khan] and Aamir [Khan]. The story is about three underdogs," he added.

Jaya, Shweta and Navya

Jaya Bachchan gives sound advice to Navya Nanda

In the latest episode of 'What The Hell Navya' the trio of Navya Naveli Nanda, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, and Jaya Bachchan discuss making mistakes and what they learnt from those mistakes. The conversation revolves around Navya's experiences in advocating for women's rights.  Navya openly discussed her experiences with concerns about her ability to handle difficult situations due to her age. However, Jaya Bachchan wisely corrects her, pointing out that knowledge and experience are not the same thing. She encourages Navya to trust her instincts and continue doing her work, “is tarah ke soch ko apne andar lana aur iss tarah ke soch ke upar kaam karna uske liye experience ki zaroorat nahi hai. Voh dil aur dimag ki baat hoti hai. Aur jo aap jo keh rahe hai aur jo aapko keh rahe hai unse kaho Keep Quiet! ye sab baatein aap sunke ansuna kar dijiye. Jo aap kar rahi hai bahot acha kar rahi hai aur usko aap karte rahiye aur zor se kariye” she stated.  Navya finds comfort in Jaya Bachchan’s support, as Jaya gives a reminder to Navya that while criticism is unavoidable, one should never stop pursuing their goals, she says “kuch toh log kahenge logo ka kaam hai kehna”.  Jaya Bachchan on being a protective parent: On the show, Jaya said, “We were more protective because we didn't know any better. That's what we were taught, that's how we were brought up. You (Shweta) have been brought up, you will bring up your children even more differently".  Shweta echoed her thoughts and said, “A lot of times, people don't learn from other people's experiences. They have to learn from their own experiences. You have to give your children a chance to make those mistakes. It's actually, literally like putting your children out there or letting them go is like taking your heart out and putting it on the table. Because your every instinct is ‘I don’t want them to get hurt. This is maybe not a right person. This is maybe not a right direction they're going in,' but it's very difficult to say, ‘Okay, I’ll let you do it.' I think it's the best thing you can do for your child that you can let them make their own mistakes. Because they will gain experience.” Navya Naveli Nanda hosts the popular vodcast, “What The Hell Navya" vodcast. Where three generations come together to share their opinions and discuss a range of topics.

Raveena Tandon

Raveena Tandon reacts to suicide attempt rumours post break up with Akshay Kumar

Raveena Tandon was among the top heroines in the 90s and continues to impress the audience with her acting and charm. Back in the 90s, Raveena had made headlines for her personal life when she broke off her engagement with actor Akshay Kumar. Around that time, several articles did the rounds about how Raveena was handling her breakup. From rumours of a suicide attempt to adopting two girls, every aspect of the actress' life was scrutinized and sometimes exaggerated in the media.  In an interview with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Raveena said, “Yes, what’s the big deal? So many relationships break up, people move on, you remain friends… You realise we were not good as partners but we’re good as friends. So what’s the big deal? I don’t understand. I was absolutely fine. The bigger fuss was made in the media, because in those days, they wanted to sell their magazines. But personally, amongst us, between my friends, and what my family thought mattered to me. Beyond a certain point, what people thought did not matter to me.” Talking about when Raveena adopted two girls after the breakup, she said, “There was absolutely no control on the kind of stories that would go around. So, the day I got my two girls home… They were not getting the life that they deserved, I felt, and this was something that was happening closer to home, and I decided to take charge. The day I turned 21 I brought them in. I couldn’t watch it unfold in front of me and not do anything. That is how I’ve always been, sticking my nose into places where it doesn’t belong.” Raveena added that her adopted daughters were primarily brought up by her parents and they helped bring up her two biological children with husband Anil Thadani. In the 90s, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon featured in hit films like 'Mohra', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari', 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi' among others. They are all set to share screen after a long gap in 'Welcome to The Jungle' which also stars many other actors including Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi and many more.

Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth

Engaged not married, clarifies Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth

It was reported on Wednesday that actors Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth have tied the knot secretly. The couple who value their privacy were said to have had a temple wedding. However, seems like there is no truth to it.  On Thursday, Aditi took to her Instagram handle and shared a picture with Siddharth flaunting their engagement rings. Aditi wrote the caption as, "He said yes!E. N. G. A. G. E. D."            View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Aditi Rao Hydari (@aditiraohydari) Earlier in the morning, reports claimed that Aditi Rao Hydari secretly married her long-time boyfriend Siddharth in an intimate ceremony in Telangana. The actress had also missed out on the grand Netflix event where the release date of 'Heeramandi' was announced. Hydari plays a pivotal role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut series. During the grand event in the city, reacting to Aditi Rao Hydari’s absence, the host confirmed that the actress didn’t attend the function because of her wedding with Siddharth. Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth have remained tight-lipped about their relationship. According to reports, the two fell in love with each other on the sets of their film Maha Samundram in 2021. Aditi and Siddharth made their relationship Instagram official on January 1, where they wrote, "Happy blessed grateful. To magic happiness love laughter unicorns rainbows and fairy dust #happynewyear to you all 2024." Aditi was previously married to actor Satyadeep Mishra, who recently tied the knot with fashion designer Masaba. Meanwhile, on the work front, Aditi is all set to star in the Indo-U.K co-production 'Lioness.' The film, inspired by the research of Peter Bance, the historian who discovered the story of Princess Sophia Duleep, tells the story of two British Punjabi women living in the UK, a century apart. Peter is also one of the executive producers of the film. Aditi also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series 'Heeramandi' in her kitty. It also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal. Aditi will be seen as Bibbojaan in the series. Her poster's caption reads, "She yearns for freedom, and not just her own." The upcoming series is set amid multiple power struggles in Heeramandi, Lahore (now part of Pakistan), and more generally in undivided, pre-independence India, where anti-colonial freedom movements were emerging. The official streaming date of the series has not yet been announced. Apart from this, she will be next seen in an A.R. Rahman musical, the silent film 'Gandhi Talks.' Helmed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, the film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, and Siddharth Jadhav in the lead roles.

The team of Amar Singh Chamkila

Diljit Dosanjh tears up at 'Amar Singh Chamkila' trailer launch, here's why

The trailer of Netflix's upcoming film 'Amar Singh Chamkila' was launched earlier today in the city. For the event, actor/singer Diljit Dosanjh was accompanied by director Imtiaz Ali, Oscar and Grammy-winning composer A. R. Rahman and actress Parineeti Chopra. During the event, Imtiaz told the media how Diljit forgot that he himself is such a huge global superstar and became Amar Singh Chamkila. In the journey to explore Chamkila, Diljit completely immersed himself in the world of Chamkila. “You have already achieved so much but I can guarantee this, this is just your beginning. Wherever you go, we will be with you. I am very happy this freshness came into my life of doing this film. I am thankful to Netflix who took it up with equal love,” Imtiaz Ali said, leaving Diljit in tears. Hearing this Diljit teared up on stage, at one moment he seemed inconsolable as he became too overwhelmed hearing such heartwarming words from his director.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Viral Bhayani (@viralbhayani) At the event, Rahman told the media, "Imtiaz is not a director for me, he is a co-storyteller just like Mani Ratnam is for me. As an artiste, it's rare to find that deep connection with a fellow artiste." He further mentioned, "With Imtiaz the journey is more of an exploration, exploring the characters and the story together. Sometimes I give him something that doesn't fit but he still keeps it in his kitty." The composer added that he had given the song 'Phir Se Udd Chala' from the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer 'Rockstar' to someone else, they would have said that it's too complicated but Imtiaz quietly went away, sat with Irshad and worked on the lyrics. Rahman shared, "He told me, 'Ab main vapas poori taiyaari ke saath aaunga apke paas." About Amar Singh Chamkila: The film charts the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses, the highest record-selling artist of his time, who emerged from the shadows of poverty and rose to the heights of popularity in the 80s due to the sheer power of his music, angering many on the way, which finally led to his assassination at a young age of 27. With the maestro AR Rahman helming the music for the film and Irshad Kamil penning the lyrics, the audience will once again get to witness the magic of a Rahman – Imtiaz - Irshad collaboration, after nine years! It is not surprising to see the songs of the film -Ishq Mitaye and Naram Kaalja, released earlier this month have been ruling charts all across. Adding to the excitement, both Diljit and Parineeti have lent their voices to some of the original Chamkila songs in Punjabi. For the first time, the film will showcase live music recordings done on locations capturing the rawness and the exuberance of each moment as Diljit & Parineeti sing live in the Akhadaas.

Kriti reveals many people tried to convince her to ditch red bangles

Bollywood actors Kriti Kharbanda and Pulkit Samrat tied the knot on March 15. The ceremony took place in Manesar at ITC Grand Bharat, near Delhi. On Thursday, Kriti dropped a series of pictures from her chooda (bangle-wearing) ceremony. Unlike her contemporaries, Kriti opted for the traditional red chooda set and revealed that many people tried to talk her out of it.  For the occasion, she wore a lime green saree with an off-shoulder blouse and paired it with her mom's wedding dupatta. The actress chose to take the vintage route and wore her grandmother's necklace set.            View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Kriti Kharbanda (@kriti.kharbanda) Kriti's kaleeras were designed by Mrinalini Chandra, and were customised for the actress. A closer look showed a special message "You will marry me" engraved on them.  Kriti's photo album also showed her doing the chooda ritual on her family and friends where the bride shakes the kaleeras and whoever gets a piece fallen on their head is the next in line to marry.  She wrote in the caption, “Naani ma ka haar aur ma ki shaadi ka dupatta! The two things I was sure I was going to adorn during my Chooda ceremony even before there was a boyfriend or a proposal bachpan ka Sapna tha. It was a magical morning. Riding high on emotions and my heart pounding coz pulkit and I weren’t allowed to meet or see each other before the phera’s. While we did things our way, a few things were still old school. I wish he was a part of this moment too, but sigh, I loved the look on his face the first time he saw these pictures and was bowled over. Laal chooda and traditional kaleera’s were a non negotiable too. The number of people who tried to convince me otherwise was insane. But I’m so glad I stuck to what I wanted to do and didn’t look back.” Pulkit and Kriti have worked together in films such as 'Veerey Ki Wedding', 'Taish' and 'Pagalpanti'. Their wedding festivities took place in the presence of close family members and friends. Actors Ali Fazal, Richa Chadha, Varun Sharma and Manjot Singh were also a part of the functions.
