Dadar Union beat Matunga XI by two runs to register their second win in the Tulpule Trophy U-13 cricket tournament at the Dadkar Maidan in Matunga on Friday.
Batting first, Dadar Union scored 181-8 in the stipulated 35 overs with useful contributions from Nissar Shaikh (65) and Ovais Shaikh (27). Matunga XI’s Aman Yadav took three for 25.
In reply, Matunga XI’s Ayush Jethva led the scoring with 88 runs. His 94-ball knock was laced with 10 fours. He was ably supported by Ronit Thakur (30). Jethva was dismissed in the 33rd over, leaving Matunga XI another 15 runs to get with five wickets in hand. However, in the very next over, Matunga XI lost two wickets.
Then, a brilliant final over by Khush Jain sealed the tie in Dadar Union’s favour.
Needing just six runs to win, Jain’s accurate bowling saw the Matunga side lose three wickets and manage to add just two runs to the total. Jain finished with impressive figures of 4-25.
New Hind beat DPZ In another encounter, a dominant New Hind Sporting beat Dadar Parsee Zorashtrian (DPZ) by 171 runs.
