The deceased were identified as Kant Padenath Patil (45), Shiva Vishwanath Patil (35) and Eshwanath Patil (45), from Pune. Another pedestrian, who was knocked down by the truck, escaped with minor injuries. The accident occurred while the trio was crossing the expressway after alighting from a tourist bus. A sub-inspector from Kamothe police station said the Patils were on their way home when the incident took place. “Another pedestrian sustained minor injuries in the mishap and was rushed to MGM Hospital in Kamothe where he was treated in the out patient department (OPD).”
The bodies were sent to Gramin Hospital in Panvel for post-mortem following which the relatives were informed. All three bodies were claimed in the afternoon. Despite repeated attempts, the relatives remained unavailable for comment.
