Killing me won't help, Kejriwal tells Khurshid

Alleging that Law Minister Salman Khurshid had threatened him, India Against Corruption (IAC) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his words did not behove the minister of a country.

In a tweet, Kejriwal posted that Khurshid had threatenedu00a0to kill him and said it would be better that the Congress “sensed the anger of people and took some concrete steps against corruption”.

Khurshid, it was reported, had threatened Kejriwal against coming to his constituency Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh.u00a0“Killing me won’t help. Kyonki poora desh jaag gaya hai. Ek Arvind marega to 100 Arvind khade honge (The whole nation has awakened... If one Arvind dies, 100 other Arvinds will arise),” Kejriwal tweeted.

Reacting to Khurshid’s comments, Kejriwal said, “Whatever he has said does not behove the law minister... The Congress has lost touch with the country and it is high time the party realised this.”

“Mr Salman Khurshid has threatened me. Jo bhasha unhone istemaal ki hai, wo bhasha iss desh ke kanoon mantri ko shobha nahin deti (the language he has used does not suit the Law Minister of the country),” Kejriwal tweeted.

He also said that Khurshid should realise that his (Arvind’s) life is “not in the minister’s hands but in God’s”. The whole drama unfolded when Arvind Kejriwal said he will take his protest against Salman Khurshid to Farrukhabad, owing to which the Law Minister warned him from entering his constituency.

“Let him (Arvind Kejriwal) come to Farrukhabad. But how will he go back from here?” Khurshid said. The Law Minister threatened Kejriwal and said: “When I was made the Law Minister then, I was advised to use a pen. Now, it is time to replace the ink with blood.”u00a0

IAC seeks Prez’s intervention
IAC activist Kumar Vishwas has urged President Pranab Mukherjee to intervene into the matter. Vishwas said that it is unacceptable for a Law Minister to speak in such a manner, and sought his resignation. “The President and the PM should take note of this matter. The President should ask the PM to ensure that such a person does not continue as the law minister.”
