Greed can be the biggest trap. And they have been cashing in onu00a0 it for years.
A gang called Thak-Thak have an old and unique modus operandi. One of the gang members goes up to the car driver at a busy crossing or marketplace.

He knocks on the window and tells the driver he has dropped his wallet or bank notes near the car's tyre. When the driver out of curiosity opens the car door or rolls down the windowpane, two of the accomplices make off with whatever cash and valuables are lying on the front seats.

In a recent operation led by South District police, two of the gang members were arrested on a tip off at Sarojini Nagar market, where they had come to sell stolen items. "They were roaming in the market to dispose of theu00a0 items and were on the lookout of another victim. We have recovered seven laptops and seven mobile phones from their possession," said a police officer.

The duo has been identified as Vijay (23) and Manish Kumar (20). They have been involved in cases of bag-lifting in the national capital and neighbouring states. According to the police, Vijay is the younger brother of their gang leader Suraj alias Danny, who has been arrested in the past in cases of theft and bag-lifting, and is still on the run.

According to the police, the gang committed crimes using their thak-thak strategy. During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang used to hire boys between the ages of 10 to 12 years to help them dispatch the stolen items. The members would wait near the spot to receive the items from the minor boys. And would immediately flee from the scene," said a police officer.

The gang leader Suraj is reportedly a notorious criminal and has been nabbed by the Lajpat Nagar police, Special Staff of South District police and Punjab Police in the past.
