An ongoing exhibition of watercolours by Bhaskar Sagar depicts the beauty of the coastal region of Maharashtra
Bhaskar Sagar will be showcasing the beautiful coastal regions of Maharashtra in his solo watercolour exhibition titled, Konkan. This is the sixth consecutive year that the graduate in commercial arts from Abhinav Art College in Pune is having an exhibition of his artworks.
Bhaskar has been using the medium of watercolours for several years. The beaches of Konkan and the majestic Sahyadri ranges have continued to attract and inspire the artist to capture their beauty on canvas, especially during the monsoon.
Watercolour paintings by Bhaskar Sagar
Through his paintings, Bhaskar presents views of the ghats and the beaches of the north and south Konkan. Bhaskar used to do a mix of landscapes, but since his association with Art2Day he has started creating theme-based artworks.
The artist, who would make and sell calendars to support his education in his college days, believes in painting on-the-spot, as he finds it important to capture the light and shade, which can make or break an artwork.
Bhaskar's past exhibitions include Places in Pune City (2007), Forts of Maharashtra (2008), Rock-cut Caves in Maharashtra (2009) and Ancient Temples of Maharashtra (2010). The artist also plans on releasing a calendar based on his paintings.
