Faceglat, a 'kosher version' of Facebook, where men and women's profiles are separated, has launched in Israel.

launched the website for those who wanted to have a space to share
personal photos and information about themselves that they would
prefer or are not allowed to be seen by a member of the opposite sex.
He added that the website was not an alternative to Facebook
The site, which is reportedly attracting a hundred new users a week, separates men and women users from when they sign up, so that religious Jews can have a space to share personal photos and information about themselves that they would prefer or are not allowed to be seen by a member of the opposite sex.
The name Faceglat fuses part of the Facebook brand with the word glattu00a0-- a term typically used to denote the highest levels of kosher regarding a piece of meat.
Launched in Israel by a 25 year-old Jewish programmer, Yaakov Swisa, Faceglat also blocks indecent advertisements and tracks the use of bad language across the site. Users who do use bad language or content are immediately blocked.
Swisa said, "People who are God-fearing and care about their children's education cannot tolerate the adverts and pictures one sees on the regular Facebook."
"I personally know people who have deteriorated spiritually because of all kinds of things they were introduced to there, he added.
He said the site, which is available in both Hebrew and English, was not an alternative to Facebook; rather "a cleaner option for those who are already there". Two years ago Koogle, a kosher version of Google, was launched for Hebrew-speaking Orthodox Jews.
