The Charkop police have arrested a 50-year-old man and recovered a country made pistol from him. The pistol had four rounds of live cartridges and one empty cartridge. Cops suspect that this pistol was used in the Kurar shootout that occurred on November 27.
The arrested man has been identified as Ramniwas Prajapati. He was produced in court yesterday and has been remanded in police custody.
Prajapati told the police during interrogation that the cartridge is empty because he fired a round of bullets on Diwali to check his pistol.
Now, the cops are trying to get the Call Data Records (CDR) of Prajapati’s mobile phone, to compare it with the time and location of the Kurar firing incident.
ACP Vilas Patil said, “The inquiry is in the initial stages and we are looking at all angles. No conclusion can be drawn yet.”
