In an incident of chain-snatching, gold ornaments of a lady corporator were wrested out on Tuesday afternoon. The lady identified as Madhuri Kale is a Rashtravadi corporator at Kalyan. The police are investigating the case and accused are yet to be arrested.
Kale left her home near Vaishali park, Vijay Nagar, Kalyan and was walking towards her Rashtravadi Congress office when the incident took place. Around 1.10 pm, when she had almost reached her office gate, two persons on the bike snatched her gold chain and mangalsutra and then fled the place.
According to a police official, “The gold chain and mangalsutra were worth Rs. 50,000. She was alone when the incident occurred. The accused are yet to be arrested and investigations are still going on.”
The case is registered under section 394 (Voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery)and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
