Charity organization DoSomething.org has named Lady Gaga No. 1 on its new "Top 20 Celebrities Gone Good" list due to her outstanding work as a gay rights activist in the last year.

The pop singer publicly called for the repeal of the US military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy months ago, which was signed by President Obama on December 22.

She was also very outspoken in her support of same-sex marriage and raised money towards HIV/AIDS prevention worldwide.

Keep a Child Alive founder Alicia Keys raised $1.1 million with her Digital Death Campaign, which earned her the runner up spot.

She and her new husband Swizz Beatz also went the extra mile by adopting a South African village where they plan to build schools.

Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, Taylor Swift, Matt Damon, Oprah Winfrey, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Degeneres filled out the list's top 10, each with generous contributions of their own.
