After playing 115 Tests, VVS Laxman is finally set to play a Test at his hometown. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will make its Test debut today when India host New Zealand in the second of three Tests.u00a0
Baba Krishna Mohan, Laxman's maternal uncle was the force behind the batsman's success in his childhood. Laxman's parents, who are both doctors, wanted him to enter the field of medicine too. However, Baba, similar to Sachin Tendulkar's brother Ajit, forced Laxman's parents to support his decision to pursue cricket as a career option.

Laxman was dismissed cheaply. That was the last time I saw him play on a ground," Baba told MiD DAY yesterday.u00a0u00a0 However, Baba has promised to watch Laxman's farewell Test. He intends to take Laxman back home, as the journey would have come to an end.
Laxman had about 10 to 11 coaches since his childhood days - from school, college and university cricket - and he presented each of them with a suit length earlier this week. One of the coaches, John Manoj, is now coaching in Wellington, New Zealand but is in the city to watch Laxman bat against the New Zealanders over the next five days.
There is a festive atmosphere in Hyderabad and everyone is gearing up for the Test match.
Former India off-spinner and now vice-president of both BCCI and HCA, Shivlal Yadav has made a small request to captains of both teams ufffd he wants the first over of the Test to be bowled from the pavilion end, as it has been named after him.
Laxman has enjoyed great success of late. He starred in India's series-levelling effort in Colombo and carried his form into the home series against Australia. More recently, he saved the Ahmedabad Test against the New Zealanders.
