According to Shivaji Nagar police, three men barged into Amina hotel in Shivaji Nagar on last morning and attacked Mohammed and ransacked the eatery. Mohammed, who is a member of the Hotel Owner Welfare Association, was later admitted to a local hospital.u00a0
However, Alam Khan, president of the Hotel Owner Welfare Association said that members had informed the police that they are not supporting the strike and would be open for business on Friday.
“The three members of the Shivaji Nagar-Mankhurd Vyapari Association barged into the hotel and started destroying property like tables, chairs, glass showcases and crockery before attacking Mohammed and Khan,” said Alam Khan.
Based on the statements of the victims and the eyewitnesses the Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case of trespassing, assault and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace against three members of the Vyapari Association identified as Nasim Khan, owner of MR Mart in Govandi, Shaikh Janagir, owner of Cafe Faisal and an unknown person.
“We are in the process of recording the statements of the victims and the alleged accused. We will take action after investigating the case,” said Radhesham Agarwal, senior police inspector of Shivaji Nagar police station. u00a0
