Sachin Tendulkar's vulnerability against left-arm spinners in recent times is well documented and it was once again proved with Panesar claiming his wicket.

Left-arm spinner claims Sachin Tendulkar's wicket for 24th time

Sachin Tendulkar was on Friday dismissed for the 24th time in his 192-Test career by a left-arm spinner after he was sent back by Monty Panesar on the first day of the second cricket Test between India and England in Mumbai today.

Tendulkar departed for eight runs, bowled after he misread the turn and length of the ball that dipped in front of his outstretched bat and broke his off stump.

Panesar had previously bagged the little master's wicket at Nagpur in 2006 and at Lord's in 2007. Both his previous dismissals against the English off-spinner were through lbw.u00a0

New Zealander Daniel Vettori leads the pack of left-arm spinners in the number of dismissals effected against the senior India batsman. He has claimed Tendulkar's wicket on five occasions. South African Paul Harris and Zimbabwean Ray Price have each dismissed the 39-year-old batsman thrice.

On most occasions, Tendulkar has been caught off these slow bowlers, while being adjudged leg before five times and bowled on four occasions.

The only time Tendulkar has been stumped by a left-arm spinner was by England's Ashley Giles in the 2001-02 Test series at Bangalore for 90. Giles adopted the negative leg stump line from over the wicket to frustrate Tendulkar during that series a decade ago.
