The leopard, which had strayed from a nearby forest, was chasing the sheep and they all came under a train while crossing the track.

As many as 350 sheep and a leopard were crushed under a train in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district Wednesday.


The accident took place while the leopard was chasing the sheep near Anantapuram in Sompeta mandal in north coastal Andhra, about 700 km from here.


Police said the leopard, which had strayed from a nearby forest, was chasing the sheep and they all came under a train while crossing the track.


Forest and revenue department officials visited the scene and conducted an inquest.

The sheep belonged to six families and their loss is estimated to be of about Rs 15 lakh.
