Last evening, Azad Maidan stood by its literal translation
Over 200 ‘hacktivists’, clad in black and sporting Guy Fawkes masks, protested the recent blocking of file and video sharing websites across India. Around 4 pm, members of hacktivist group ‘Anonymous’, that claimed responsibility for taking down several government websites last month, began a peaceful demonstration at the grounds.
Similar protests kicked off in other parts of India simultaneously. The main objective of the protest was to safeguard the freedom of expression and curtail censorship on the Internet as a medium of information exchange, a protestor told Sunday Mid Day.
