What
Never mind if you were born with two left feet or are an accomplished dancer, enjoy dance in all its forms as Dance Dialogues (DD) hosts an open house event, titled The Day of Dance Experiences. Noted dancers such as Astad Deboo, Shruti Jasani, Ranjana Dave and several others will be conducting workshops to introduce the audience to various forms. Dave, founder of DD, says, “Two weeks ago, we organised a social meet-up of dancers to seek their help in going forward as it can get isolating and restrictive to work alone. In our two and a half years of work, we know that artistes of all ages appreciate our efforts. It was a question of harnessing that goodwill and reaching out to people.”

How
Kathak danseuse Sanjukta Wagh highlights how the event is welcome to all, “It opens up the concept of dance bringing all the forms under one roof.” Noting that such platforms need to be integral to the art form, Contemporary dancer Astad Deboo states, “There is no real support or encouragement for dance. In my 45 years of being in the city, I have seen no real growth.” Deboo highlights how Prithvi Theatre has shut its doors on the form, since the 1980s. He asserts, “This is not unique to Mumbai. The pulse of the nation is now froth and fun.”
