Lewis Hamilton has promised to bring his championship-winning form to the first race of the new season after admitting too much partying contributed to his end-of-year wobble. The Briton, 32, vowed to end the season in style after a series of good performances, in the second half of the campaign, paved the way for his fourth championship with two rounds to spare.

Hamilton said: "Some things happen when you win the championship, and in the week after I won the title in Mexico, I partied a lot. I still drove relatively well, but I would not say I was 100 per cent. My sleep and energy has been different at these last couple of races. Next year, it’ll go back to how it was in the second half of the season."
