Discover the inner filmmaker in you and participate in the International Digital Film Festival
In an effort to promote visual arts among the public through independent film, video and new media, The UFO 0110 International Digital Film Festival is now open to entries from across the world. The film festival aims to recognise and promote "different cinema" and will take place from February 23 to March 1, 2012 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.
A travelling festival
The film festival is an annual event and is the only festival that travels across 11 cities in India. In its previous edition, it was held in New Delhi and Mumbai. The jury members of the festival were renowned directors such as Anurag Kashyap, Sudhir Misra and Rajan Khosa, film maker and festival director Madhureeta Anand and actress Tabu.
The films that will be accepted in the festival have to be shot on the digital format as the organisers believe it encourages new thoughts and styles of filmmaking. Plus, it is inexpensive and delivers results similar to conventional formats.
The festival will include awards in various categories including feature films, short films, animation, documentaries and student films. There will also be a digital art competition as well as competitions based on films shot on mobile phones and films shot in one week.
Speaking on the occasion Madhureeta Anand, festival director, said, "The previous edition of the festival was a huge success. And this time we have raised the bar. We are looking forward to showcasing the most innovative new talent before the audience. At the core of this festival lies the spirit of independence and a yearning to break away from binding structures. The only requirement is quality of thought and execution. The buzzwords are new, innovative and cutting-edge cinema."
