Those who think making a film requires right pedigree, loads of money and luck, eat dirt. This film festival proves all that is needed is passion

Once upon a time, (long before Tiger Woods) there were two famous woods -- Hollywood and Bollywood. It was an alluring magical land, where kings and their successors made big-budget blockbusters.

The Disposable Film Festivalu00a0 is consideredu00a0 as one of the world's 25
coolest film festivals in the world.

They still exist, only storytelling today is no longer limited to princes of the film world with big cameras and bigger egos. Through cell phones, pocket cameras, and other inexpensive video devices,u00a0 the Disposable Film Festival is ushering in the new age of storytelling. All you need to do is 'shoot them, cut them and send them in.'u00a0u00a0

Dawn of disposable cinema
The festival was the brainchild of Eric Slatkin and Carlton Evans who started it in San Francisco in 2007 to capture 'the creative potential of disposable video.' Nowadays, with almost everyone equipped with a camera and all of us being actors consciously or unconsciously for CCTV cameras, web cams and our loved one's mobile phones, the age of disposable films has dawned upon us. The film festival is about those ordinary people among us who decide to do something creative with videos which one disposes otherwise.u00a0

Ten minute wonders
This time the festival in the Capital will showcase 26 short films of 10 minute duration by filmmakers around the globe. Indian filmmakers are yet to participate in the festival but in a land teeming with creative talent, the festival is bound to see a large chunk of Indian entries in the years to come. Since 2007 the film festival has travelled to major places like Los Angeles, London, Paris, Brussels, New York and Beijing among others. This time it's Delhi's turn. Don't give it a miss.
