Earth Hour was launched in Sydney, Australia in 2007 as a local event and within a year became a worldwide campaign on raising awareness about global warming. 
Earth Hour will see restaurants going the candle-light (and tea-light) way
"To celebrate Earth Hour we will switch off the lights for an hour. We will use tea lights on the tables and guests will be requested to use the same in their rooms. Usage of lights will be bare minimum across the hotel except for elevators and corridors," said Gaurav Maroo, F & B manager. Earth Menu at Westin Pune
Westin will be offering a Green Menu at all their restaurants for this week in celebration of Earth Hour. They are also serving a Green Cocktail made from organic wine and Strawberry Claret. On March 26, all the outlets will switch their lights off and have a candlelight dinner from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Their other Earth Hour initiatives include clean-up of the Mula Mutha riverbed from 9 to 11 am by Team Westin, tree plantation and laying the foundation for the herb garden at 11 am.
