Actor Kumail Nanjiani talks about his character in Ghostbusters

Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer, comedian and critically acclaimed actor, Kumail Nanjiani, makes his way into the 'Ghostbuster' franchise with 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire'. Playing the role of Nadeem, Kumail will be seen facing off with some of the ghosts in the popular franchise.  To take out the threat, it turns out that only Nadeem has the right stuff, if he can focus on something useful for once in his life. The role is played by Kumail Nanjiani. “What's great about Nadeem is that he really encompasses what makes Ghostbusters special,” he says. “He's a slacker. He's completely discounted by everyone around him. And he's the only one who can tackle this big, terrifying demon who can scare people to death just by looking at them. That's what I love – he’s a very grounded, normal character… some might call him a loser, and he doesn’t like it, but can’t deny it. And then suddenly he has to defeat this massive demon.” Gil Kenan's "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" sees the triumphant return of the Spengler family to the iconic New York City firehouse where it all began. They join forces with the original Ghostbusters, who have established a top-secret research lab to take ghost-busting to new heights. However, their discovery of an ancient artifact unexpectedly unleashes an evil force, putting the world at risk of a second Ice Age. The new and old Ghostbusters must unite to protect their home and save the world from certain doom. The film features an eclectic ensemble of Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts. Sony Pictures Entertainment India releases Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire exclusively in Indian cinemas on 26th April 2024 in English and Hindi. Billie Eilish opens up about discovering her sexuality

International singer/songwriter Billie Eilish recently opened up about her discovery of her sexuality and also spoke about the importance of self-pleasure. Eilish is currently looking forward to her third album 'Hit Me Hard and Soft'.  Eilish credited her latest song 'Lunch' to understanding who she is. The song consists of the lyrics, "I could eat that girl for lunch...". Speaking about the same, Eilish told Rolling Stone, "That song was actually part of what helped me become who I am, to be real. I wrote some of it before even doing anything with a girl, and then wrote the rest after.” "I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand — until, last year, I realised I wanted my face in a vag**a,” she added saying she never wanted to talk about her sexuality in public.  "I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up," she said. Back in November 2023, in an interview with Variety, Eilish said, "I’ve never really felt like I could relate to girls very well. I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.” Soon after her sexuality became a topic of discussion.  "The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other," she added reacting to the discussion around her sexuality.  Eilish also emphasised the importance of self-pleasure, as she remarked, "Self-pleasure is an enormous, enormous part of my life, and a huge, huge help for me. I have learned that looking at myself and watching myself feel pleasure has been an extreme help in loving myself and accepting myself, and feeling empowered and comfortable.” "I should have a PH.D in masturbation," she remarked.  The Grammy Award-winner also revealed that her dramatic blonde hair transformation sparked an identity crisis, leaving her feeling like she had "no idea" who she was. In the same interview, she said, "And then I dyed my hair blonde, and I immediately was like, 'Oh, I have no idea who I am'." The glamorous look aligned with the softer feel of her sophomore album, 'Happier Than Ever', but ultimately, it felt like too much of a departure from Eilish’s true self, reports people.com. "In a weird way, that was a little like being in a tornado cellar, reading a cute little story," Eilish’s brother and collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, said in the profile. "It was a coping mechanism for an album." Eilish showcased her new icy blonde hair in a March 2021 Instagram video. She made her Met Gala debut six months later in a peach tulle Oscar de la Renta corset ball gown, with her blonde hair styled into a glamorous bob.

Ryan Gosling opens up about BO competition impacting 'The Nice Guys' sequel

Ryan Gosling recently shed light on why the action comedy film 'The Nice Guys,' in which he starred alongside Russell Crowe, didn't receive a sequel despite its favourable reviews. In a recent interview obtained by Deadline, Gosling attributed the lack of a sequel to the box office competition the film faced, particularly from the animated hit 'Angry Birds.' Gosling remarked, "So much of a sequel, I think, is decided by the opening weekend of a movie, and we opened up against Angry Birds. So Angry Birds just, just destroyed us." 'The Nice Guys,' directed by Shane Black, debuted in 2016 to positive reviews but struggled to compete at the box office against the family-friendly appeal of 'Angry Birds.' While 'The Nice Guys' reportedly earned USD 11.2 million in its opening weekend, 'Angry Birds' soared with an opening weekend of USD 38 million, overshadowing Gosling and Crowe's film. Not only did 'The Nice Guys' face stiff competition from 'Angry Birds,' but it also had to contend with other releases like 'Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising' and 'Captain America: Civil War,' which further impacted its box office performance. Despite its initial box office struggles, 'The Nice Guys' managed to recoup its production costs, with an estimated budget of USD 50 million and a total box office revenue of USD 62.8 million. However, the overshadowing impact of 'Angry Birds' on its opening weekend likely influenced the decision not to pursue a sequel, Deadline reported. Set in 1977 Los Angeles, 'The Nice Guys' follows the story of private eye Holland March, played by Gosling, and enforcer Jackson Healy, portrayed by Crowe, as they join forces to investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl. The film also featured Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David, and Kim Basinger, with a cameo appearance by Robert Downey Jr. in an uncredited role. While 'The Nice Guys' garnered praise for its witty humour and engaging performances, its box office fate ultimately hinged on factors beyond its control, including the unexpected dominance of 'Angry Birds' at the time of its release. Dev Patel in Monkey Man

Kya hai iss bandar ke andar?

On Tuesday, while believers celebrated Hanuman Jayanti, social media was abuzz with Dev Patel’s Monkey Man. While uncertainty prevails around the India release of Patel’s maiden directorial venture, it won wide acclaim on its US release earlier this month and is now available on video-on-demand platforms in the US. Consequently, pirated copies have surfaced online. Sources tell us that the film’s pirated link was leaked on late April 22, and was all over social media by the next day. A source reveals that the Warner Bros team, which manages Universal Pictures’ releases in India, swooped into action on Monday night itself. “But it took the team more than 12 hours to find the source link. After the first link was pulled down by Tuesday afternoon, it was circulated by people on Google Drive. It wasn’t until 8.30 pm on Tuesday that all links were successfully pulled down. Several accounts that had shared the link on X have been sent copyright violation notices by the micro-blogging site.” Monkey Man sees Patel play the central character, who sets out on a quest to avenge his mother’s death at the hands of corrupt leaders and emerges as a defender of the marginalised. The source adds, “The film has been awaiting a censor clearance in India since March. While the extreme violence is a concern, many real-life incidents have been depicted, making it a sensitive release in the election year.”

Megan Thee Stallion's cameraman claims he was forced to watch her have sex

Megan Thee Stallion has found herself courting controversy after her cameraman filed suit alleging that the rapper created a hostile work environment, fat-shamed him, and forced him to watch her get intimate with another woman.  Videographer Emilio Garcia filed a complaint in Los Angeles alleging that in June 2022, he was forced to watch Megan have sex with another woman during a stop while touring in Ibiza, Spain. He couldn’t escape because it happened in a moving vehicle.  He said that he was traumatised by what he witnessed. “I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me,” he told NBC News.  After the incident, Megan told Garcia to not discuss what he saw and her team altered his monthly pay as well.  Garcia, who worked for Megan from 2018 to 2023 further stated that his former boss fat-shamed him on the same trip. “To hear someone who advocates about loving your body tell me these things, I felt degraded,” he shared.  Meanwhile, Megan has denied the allegations. Her lawyer Alex Spiro told Page Six, “This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court.” In 2023, Megan conducted an Instagram live session where she revealed not being a “freak” anymore and that she is now taking her time when it comes to inviting someone in her bedroom. “I’m stingy with the cootie cat,” she said. “I’m not a freak anymore. I’m done. I’m done with the streets. So toxic in the streets. I’m tired with the streets.”  On the work front, Megan Thee Stallion is going on tour this summer. During an appearance on 'Good Morning America', the rapper confirmed that she’ll be hitting the road soon in support of her forthcoming third album.  “Oh, we’re having the tour this year. The Hot Girl Summer tour is going to be 2024, summertime,” she said. “I feel like I’ve never been able to be outside doing my own thing during the summer, since like 2019. So this is going to be the first time that I drop an album on time for the summer. I do want to give the hotties the Megan Thee Stallion experience." (With inputs from IANS)

How Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone battled over fat levels, body coun

Hollywood stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone warred over everything from their earnings to their muscles and the size of the weapons they wielded in their films at the peak of their action movie popularity in the 1980s. In an upcoming joint TV interview titled 'TMZ Presents: Arnold and Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons', the actors said they are still unsure who had the bigger career, reports femalefirst.co.uk. A preview of the chat shows Schwarzenegger sitting alongside Stallone, saying: “We ended up kind of like, ‘Well, you killed 28 people in the movie; I killed 32’.” Stallone added: “I got to top that.” Schwarzenegger then said: “He killed 80 people, so I had to kill 87 people.” 'Rambo' and 'Rocky' star added: “It was now the body count and then it was kind of, like, ‘Well, what was your body fat?’ I was down to seven per cent.” To which, Schwarzenegger added: “And then I said, ‘I was down to 10 per cent.’ So it became a competition with the body.” The ‘Terminator’ star and former governor of California said that he got jealous of the weapons Stallone used on camera, from his ‘Rambo knife’ to the sub-machine guns he wielded in the 'Rambo' franchise. He admitted he soon demanded automatic guns that were just as huge. Schwarzenegger went on: “And then he started using machine guns that were kind of, like, huge machine guns. I was running after him, he was not running after me. So I said, when we did ‘Predator’… ‘I’ve got to have a bugger machine gun than Sly used in ‘Rambo’. So this is how it went.” The two have enjoyed a decades-long friendship since they were arch-rivals in the 1980s. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Drew Barrymore was asked to tone down comedy in 'Never Been Kissed' as it made

Hollywood actor Drew Barrymore says she was stressed throughout shooting for her 1999 movie "Never Been Kissed" as she was told by studio executives that she looked "too unattractive" in the film. In the romantic comedy, Barrymore played the role of Josie, a copy editor without any real relationship experience, who goes undercover to a local high school to get a front-page story. During an episode of her chat show "The Drew Barrymore Show", the 49-year-old actor said while she had a lot of fun on set, she was also a bit scared about how the movie would turn out. "I was very stressed throughout the movie. I was so scared during the whole film because I knew if it didn't work, we weren't going to get another chance. We had so much fun making it but I had to clench my stomach the whole time," she said. Barrymore said she was advised to keep herself in control as she was getting too much into the comedy element, which was making her appear less appealing on screen. "I would get these calls from the studio and they were like, 'I'm sorry, but you're just looking too unattractive. Stop it.' And I was like, 'Good.' And they were like, 'No, no, no, no, no. It's too far.' So I was forced to even tone it down a little bit because I had gone even farther than that," she added. The actor recalled agreeing to tone down her performance only when the studio's explanation appealed to her "sensibilities rather than my ego", she said. According to Barrymore, the studio suggested she must not "lose the heart because you're going so far for the comedy". "Never Been Kissed" was also her production debut via her banner Flower Films. At the time, Barrymore said, the studio executives were "weary of actors being producers". "A lot of it wasn't necessarily working, and it didn't mean because you were an actor, you knew how to produce the film. And it was about economics. So if you didn't make the film work, and you produced it as an actor, you are likely to not be able to do it again," she added. "Never Been Kissed", directed by Raja Raymond Gosnell, also starred Michael Vartan, David Arquette, Leelee Sobieski and Jessica Alba. Anne Hathaway recalls 'gross' audition where she had to 'make out' with 10 men

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway has spoken about a particularly "gross" experience where she was asked to make out with 10 male performers for a chemistry test. In an interview with V magazine, Hathaway said it was "normal" earlier to ask actors to make out with potential co-stars during chemistry tests. "Back in the 2000s and this did happen to me it was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry, which is actually the worst way to do it," Hathaway said. "I was told, 'We have ten guys coming today and you're cast. Aren't you excited to make out with all of them?' And I thought, 'Is there something wrong with me?' because I wasn't excited. I thought it sounded gross," she added. The Oscar-winning actor said she was worried about being called "difficult" for not adhering to the industry standards at the time. However, things have changed for the better now, she added. "And I was so young and terribly aware how easy it was to lose everything by being labelled 'difficult', so I just pretended I was excited and got on with it. It wasn't a power play, no one was trying to be awful or hurt me. It was just a very different time and now we know better," Hathaway said. She currently stars in the romantic comedy "The Idea of You", which the Hollywood actor has also produced through her banner Welle Entertainment. Hathaway said the team took a different approach in the male lead in the movie. It is played by Nicholas Galitzine. "We asked each of the actors coming in to choose a song that they felt their character would love, that they would put on to get my character to dance, and then we'd do a short little improv. I was sitting in a chair like we had come in from dinner or a walk or something, we pressed play, and we just started dancing together," Hathaway said. "We had met a number of young men already, but I remember laughing when Nick walked in because he was so ridiculously perfect for the part. I just thought, he is it," she added. In "The Idea of You", Hathaway plays Solene Marchand, a 40-year-old single mother who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell (Galitzine), the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film is set to premiere on Prime Video globally on May 2. This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. “I have one ask…”: Jennifer Garner opens up on her Mother’s Day wish

Actor Jennifer Garner has just one wish for Mother’s Day. The actor, who is mom to kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, whom she shares with ex Ben Affleck, said that she doesn’t want much, reported People. “I have one ask, and it is that when my kids were really little, on some Mother’s Day, they all sat on my lap one after the other all at once for a picture,” said Garner. “And I want that picture every year, even though it’s ridiculous at this point. They’re so big. But I make them take it and they are just like, ‘Mom.’ But that’s my ask.” Earlier this month, the 13 Going on 30 alum appeared on an episode of the Dear Felicity podcast, which revisits the 1998 TV series 25 years after its premiere, and shared that her kids hadn’t yet watched the series. “Nope. Not yet,” Garner replied when asked if her kids had seen Felicity yet. “They’re that age. They just have to discover it on their own. They have their own cues. They have their own ideas of what they want to see.” “They would love it,” the proud mom added. “They would love it.” In March, Garner shared that her kids are giving her the most happiness as she was all set to celebrate her 52nd birthday. “They’re really solid right now,” she added. “I’m just watching them in this new phase of life where they’re figuring out who they’re going to be and what they’re going to study. And I’m so interested in them. All the time, I’m interested in everything about them.” Asked if it’s difficult to let her kids make their own decisions, Garner admitted it’s “so hard.” “I mean, my parents did too, and I’m so amazed by that. I have a really hard time not saying, ‘This is what I see you as,’ and ‘I think you should,’ ” she said. “I really have to sit on my hands,” reported People.  This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies.
